999TSH MIL TO FREE EDUCATION IN MWANZA SCHOOLS - GOVT

Mwanza. The Treasury has disbursed Tsh.999 million to finance free education in both primary and secondary public school in Mwanza Region.

Mwanza Regional education officer said “Schools with dormant accounts will have to activate them as quickly as possible so that money transacted in their accounts does reflect”

“This is implementations promised by the fifth face government to abolish school fees and other contributions in primary and secondary schools”

1300 EMPLOYEES TO BE LAID OFF BEFORE 2016

Mwanza, Tanzania: The ACACIA God Mine is expected to lay off 1300 employees before the end of this year. This plan has met with strong opposition from Workers Union.

The National Union of Mine and Energy Workers of Tanzania (NUMET) advocate Mr. Alhaji Majogoo criticized ACACIA’s retrenchment of 1300 employees since it goes against the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration (CMA) which encourages more discussion before any decision is made, adding that the retrenchment of such a big number is catastrophic.

He said that retrenchment should go according to the Employment and Labour relations Acts of 2004.

15 PATIENTS WITH CHOLERA IN MWANZA AND 7 IN KIGOMA, TANZANIA

Mwanza. Cholera outbreak in Mwanza Region has been contained tremendously with current statistics showing only 15 patients are still undergoing medication out of over 270 reported last five days.

Cholera camps in all the affected districts recorded sharp decrease of patients with only five still admitted in Ukerewe, two in Sengerema, five in Ilemela and only one in Mwanza City Council (MCC) as of yesterday according to acting Mwanza Acting Regional Medical officer.

However, health education and campaign was still going on regional-wise to avoid future outbreaks, emphasis being directed on urban dwellers and fishing community usually taking hygiene issues for granted. 

Kigoma Region's Chief Medical Officer, Dr.Leonard Subi

Kigoma. Seven people have been admitted at hospital and dispensaries in Kigoma region after contracting cholera which has spread and killed people in some regions in Tanzania.
Three patients had been hospitalized at Ujiji in the Kigoma Municipality while four others were from Rukoma Village in Uvinza District according to Kigoma Region's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Leonard Subi.
