The
Governments of Germany and Tanzania signed a government agreement of 175
million USD for cooperation programs on Biodiversity, Health, Water, Renewable
and Good Governance.
A special emphasis was put on supporting the Tanzanian health
system. Germany will, in particular, assist Tanzania in developing a
sustainable health financing regime, which provides better access to health
services for the poor. Moreover, it will help improve the quality of services.
Joint efforts will be geared towards the protection and
conservation of biodiversity of Tanzanian ecosystems.
All programs will be subject to constant monitoring of the
effective and transparent use of German and Tanzanian tax payers’ money. It was
thus also agreed to continue support to the National Audit Office and to launch
a new programme for good financial governance, which will also help increase
the generation of domestic revenues.
