President Dr. John Magufuli officially started work at State
House in Dar es Salaam by handling two important assignments - appointing the
Attorney General (AG) and recalling Parliament to convene on November 17.
President Dr. John Magufuli immediately
re-appointed Mr George Masaju as the AG of the United Republic of Tanzania.
He said the new Parliament
will be convened on November 17 when he will move the name of the new Prime
Minister for parliamentary approval two days later.
Mr. Masaju worked as deputy AG
before his appointment as government’s chief legal adviser. He has also worked
as President Kikwete’s legal adviser for some years and is reputed to have
enormous experience and exposure on legal matters.
He took over the office from Judge
(rtd) Frederick Werema who resigned for provision of unclear legal advice that
led to the controversial withdrawal od Tsh.306 billion from the Tegeta escrow
account at the Central Bank.
