John Magufuli has ordered the cancellation of 9th December 2015 Independence
Day Celebrations for Tanzania. Aim to reduce unnecessary public expenditure.
President
said funds meant for Uhuru Day celebrations would instead be used for a major
clean-up campaign at stemming the spread of Cholera in the Country.
“It’s so shameful that we are spending huge amount of money to celebrate 54
years of self-rule while our people are dying of Cholera,” the President said
in a statement read by the Chief Secretary Ombeni Sefue.
